How to be spa savvy
The SPA Traveller expert KATHY MOORES, who is a British Wheel of Yoga teacher and an Ayurvedic Therapist, advises you how to get the best out of your Yoga retreat...
Have you thought about going on a Yoga retreat?
Whether you are a seasoned yogi or just starting out on your journey you will find going on a retreat is a great way to take time out to focus on your health and wellness away from the distractions of everyday life and, take your yoga practice to the next level.
There are so many yoga retreats to choose from that as with any holiday, planning is the key so think carefully about what you want to get out of a retreat. Do you want to go away for a weekend, a week or stay in the UK or go abroad?
Are you inspired by a beach, mountains or a countryside location? A yoga retreat is like any holiday, it can be as restful or as active as you want. Find out what style of yoga will be on offer. Do you want an energetic style of yoga such as Ashtanga or Power Yoga? Or a more restorative yoga practice perhaps with a strong focus on meditation.
Often, most retreats will offer two to three classes a day, but don't let this scare you off as classes are usually optional. You can plan your time around scheduled yoga classes and take advantage of any other activities that maybe on offer or, maybe you want a retreat that is totally yoga focussed.
