Email us the answer to the question below for a chance to WIN:
Q: Linda Meredith is launching two new products – what are they?
email your answer...

  • We all enjoy a facial, but let’s be honest, after an hour of pampering, who doesn’t IMMEDIATELY look in the mirror to see if those fine lines and wrinkles have been miraculously ironed out.
  • Looking back at you is usually a rather pink, shiny complexion which we tell ourselves will definitely look 10 years younger tomorrow. And if it doesn’t, well we feel a bit short-changed – even if we had enjoyed the spa experience and “time out” from the real world.
  • Result-based products is secretly what we all want which is why skincare expert-to-the-stars Linda Meredith has enjoyed such phenomenal success on both sides of the Atlantic.
  •   The whole point of the Linda Meredith range is to decide what your skin needs that day or night and use the appropriate product… I always say feed your skin – you would not eat the same food every day so why use the same cream?

  • The reputation of Linda Meredith (or LM as her product line is called) has become a talking point with celebrities all over the world and her list of clients are most of the top names in pop, film, TV and fashion.
  • A-list celebrities treated at the salon, in 36 Beauchamp Place, include Gwyneth Paltrow and Renee Zellweger who both have the LM Oxygen facial which plumps up tired skin by using a blend of oxygen, collagen masks, glycolic serum and diamond particles.
  • It all began 35 years ago for LM when she started her illustrious career working in the hey day of Faberge alongside screen icons Cary Grant, Farah Fawcett and Margo Hemingway.
  • The Linda Meredith School of Make-up was established and this led to the publication of books and articles on make-up. As head of make-up for Sky TV many famous faces once again passed through the doors including the singer Eartha Kitt.
  • Linda Meredith Knightsbridge opened its doors in the early 90's and began to build the reputation it has now established. Her products are also available at Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa in Hampshire and next year there are plans to move into top spas in Spain. “Spa’s like, Chewton Glen, have the foresight to take on result-based products instead of ones which just pampers. Women today deserve more,” she said. Here, here…

  • LM took time out to talk to The SPA Traveller:
  • Q. What inspired you to become involved in the beauty business?
  • A. I became involved in the Beauty Industry purely by chance. I was seriously ill when I was 16 and diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. I was unable to complete my A Levels and go to University. After major surgery and a long recovery I was able to take a Saturday job in the local Hose of Fraser store in the perfumery department and that was the start of it all.
  • Q. What was your inspiration to start your own business after working for Faberge?
  • A. At the end of my time with Faberge I became ill again so after another long spell of recovering I decided it was probably better to work for myself which seemed to have worked out OK.
  • Q. Do you consider your Amazon vitamin cream to be your most successful to date and why?
  • A. Amazon is a fabulous cream as there is nothing like it on the market to date. It’s a balm, not a cream, but has amazing properties for healing the skin. The company who makes part of the range is in the USA and had the ingredients and all the information available so we decided to put this product together and it has been amazing.
  • Q. What are your personal favourite LM products and why?
  • A. I don’t have a particular favourite product as the whole point of the range is to decide what your skin needs that day or night and use the appropriate product. By doing this your skin never gets used to any one product and it gets the benefits of all the ingredients. This is why I always say feed your skin. You would not eat the same food every day for six months so why would you use the same cream?
  • Q. What should women look for in a good skin product, as there are so many on the market it can be confusing?
  • A. The best products to use are water based as they absorb into the skin easily. There are so many on the market and most of them do very little. Try and go for as natural as possible but active products do give results.
  • Chemical ones just strip the skin and cause problems later on. There is no such thing as totally organic this is just another selling point to make people buy the products.
  • If the product has no preservatives at all it will grow bacteria within a few days. However, there are good and bad preservatives. This is why I am writing a book.
  •

  • Q. Should women and men change their skin care products with the seasons?
  • A. Changing the products each season depends on the skin’s needs. I personally change my products every day if I need to depending on the circumstances I have been working or living in, whether my skin is de-hydrated as maybe I have had the flu or take medication, all sorts of reasons.
  • Q. What is your ideal spa treatment when you have time to relax?
  • A. My ideal spa treatment is probably a massage and a pedicure. I don’t let anyone but the girls I have trained do a facial on me as I just lie there thinking that’s wrong or I don’t like that touch. I am very particular. Someone once asked me who I would love to do my facial and my answer was me!
  • Q. With the introduction of HD television do you think more celebrities are now seeking the help of skincare professionals, like yourself, to try and prevent wrinkles and blemishes?
  • A. With the introduction of HD TV yes they are all trying to look as good as possible. But my concern however is the extreme procedures the younger girls are going for in the US, which of course, end up over here in the UK. When you hear of face lifts being done on someone in their 20’s it gets a bit ridiculous.
  • Q. What advice would you give to people who are nervous about having a facial for the first time and why are they so important for the skin?
  • A. Coming from the North East of England my main concern when opening in London was to make sure all the clients we see feel comfortable when first coming into the salon.
  • I would never visit a salon if the person who answers the phone makes me feel uncomfortable before I even get there.
  • Clients are vulnerable, they undress, they have a problem, whatever it might be and it is vitally important to make them feel they can trust you. Also if the skin problem does not improve we also look at diet and other factors which may be a problem. We just keep going until we sort out the problem.
  • Good facials are very important - unfortunately there are not many good facials out there.
  • Q. What is next for LM – are you launching any new products?
  • A. My next two products are Clay Mask and Enzyme Peel. We hope to go into the top spas in Spain next year and we are looking for more in the UK like Chewton Glen.
