Turn back time with Sodashi

OLIVIA BENJAMIN experiences a facial which defies time – both during the treatment at the Spa, Four Seasons, Hampshire and later on the skin…

“You’re facial will last one hour 45 minutes” Wow, that’s the longest facial treatment I have ever experienced and, to be honest, I wasn’t sure if I could keep still for that long…

But, as I was to discover, this wasn’t your average treatment this was the top-of-the range Samadara Ultimate Age-defying treatment from leaders in natural skincare, Sodashi, who have just teamed up with the idyllic Spa at Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire.

I was accompanied from my room in the Georgian Manor House to the Spa by Oliver, the hotel’s resident black Labrador, which is one of many homely touches you enjoy while staying at the Four Seasons which is located less than an hour from London.

The Zen-like spa is located in the former 18th Century Stable Block, which is elegantly linked to the hotel by a glass walkway - an inspired touch protecting guests against England’s unpredictable weather - and as I bid farewell to Oliver, who frolicked off to play in the extensive grounds, I was offered a soothing cup of rose tea while I filled in my health questionnaire and waited for my treatment.

As I was led to the spacious treatment room, I was told The Samadara™ Ultimate Age-Defying Facial uses a sequence of timeless anti-ageing techniques rooted in ayurvedic healing traditions to reawaken the skin’s natural healing energies.

In the ancient form of Sanskrit, the word sodashi means wholeness, purity and radiance, which reflect the values behind all of Sodashi’s sophisticated, chemical-free and unique skincare products.

The Australian-based product house has successfully harnessed the benefits of plant essences and other natural ingredients to formulate luxurious, effective, 100 per cent natural skincare products and spa treatments that work holistically to nurture the skin.

Considered the purest spa products available, Sodashi’s face and body therapies are made using the highest-quality ingredients sourced from around the world, all designed to promote inner peace and contentment.

The heated treatment bed immediately helped me relax and my facial started with a rose quartz facial massage which allows the Samadara™ Ultimate Age-Defying Crème to penetrate deeply into the skin for the greatest benefits.

To achieve the best results a gauze mask was then placed over my whole face, including my eyes and mouth, and slowly started to heat up allowing the crème to work its magic while my therapist massaged my shoulders and arms.

And, I have to admit that when I felt my skin when the mask was removed it was extremely soft and hydrated. No make-up tonight warned by therapist – as the treatment boosts skin cell renewal to tone, firm and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkle.

And the person I had to thank for this sublime facial was the Founder of Sodashi, Megan Larsen, who was visiting The Four Seasons to launch the brand into the Spa.

The products are produced at the company’s own laboratory in Fremantle in Western Australia and as they work in harmony with nature not a single synthetic chemical, preservative or fragrance is used in the Sodashi manufacturing process.

Megan Larsen told The SPA Traveller she was delighted to be partnering with Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire.

“There is synergy in that both Sodashi and Four Seasons are seeking to offer guests the finest products, experience and results. There is growing demand for high-performance chemical-free skin care in the market, as local spa customers and international travellers increasingly question the authenticity of their products and treatments.

“From seed to shelf, Sodashi remains true to its name, dramatically regenerating the skin, and imparting a deep sense of wellbeing to spirit and mind,” said Megan who built up her fan base by literally making creams in her kitchen.

“People would drive 50 or 60 miles just to pick up this kind of ‘food for their skin’,” said Megan who was also running a natural therapy centre at the time as she had a knowledge of aromatherapy, biochemistry and Ayurveda.

“You only get one chance at business and I was asked to provide my products for a spa in Sydney and then it expanded to Bangkok and Thailand and we suddenly became international.”

Megan practices what she preaches. She ensures her staff meditate every day and she only hires people for their passion which was evident during my wonderfully relaxing treatment when all sense of time melted away.
