Tried and tested

Why have wool when you can have cashmere?

Temple Spa peppers its soothing lotions and potions with everything from pomegranates and papayas to red peppers and olives. The SPA Traveller takes a closer look at their Mediterranean menu…

EXALT

We’ve seen a few celebrities recently who could have done with a few tubs of EXALT. This beats a cosmetic surgery nip and tuck, as it’s just that in a jar. Packed with olives, red peppers, wheat germ, vitamins A, C and E, this luscious neck gel has an elastic texture designed to help us tackle the test of time.

Specially formulated with anti-aging properties to deeply moisturise and improve skin smoothness, the ingredients have been chosen for their firming and lifting properties. If you can’t get to the Mediterranean, a tub of EXALT certainly brings it to you. I could see results immediately…

Verdict: Cashmere smooth, it’s a delight to use.
Cost £36 for 50ml – but you can buy one and get one FREE in August if you checkout

BE STRONG

Liquorice isn’t an ingredient we’re used to seeing in a strengthening serum. But did you know the roots of real liquorice are packed with hundreds of healing substances which have been used worldwide to treat skin conditions. BE STRONG, which also contains sunflower and calmaderm complex is one of Temple Spa’s natural “power packed, super juices” and should be used to target cell renewal especially during times of stress. So with deadlines looming and the feeling of too much work and not enough time, this sees like the perfect time to reach for BE STRONG.

My first impression is what clever packaging. The serum is contained in a strong, specially-designed, environmentally friendly plastic carton which is not only ideal for travelling but also has space for a small instruction card. This helpfully explains how to apply the serum and even how to treat yourself to a Mediterranean Skin Marinade at home – this attention to detail is quite impressive.

Following the instructions to the letter I apply the serum which feels cool on my skin and is easily absorbed. I can immediately feel the difference when I apply my favourite moisturiser and my skin really does feel a touch more radiant during the day.

Verdict: Liquorice produces sweet results

Cost: £32 for 30ml

IN THE BEGINNING
If you don’t have time to visit a spa and need a boost for your dry skin open a jar of IN THE BEGINNING and you will get the best of both worlds.

The aroma of lavender, calendula and olive fruit oil immediately wafts from the jar bringing that feeling of a spa into your own home.

This deep cleansing melt is part of Temple Spa’s dry skin therapy range and has been designed to provide intensive nourishment to dehydrated skin.

The beauty of the melt is that it has been hand blended so it looks and feels very natural to the touch. I used it morning and evening as a daily cleanser and within days my rather dry, post-holiday, skin started to regain its dewy appearance.

Verdict: A spa experience in a jar
Cost £27 for 60g

PALM BALM
“Probably the best hand cream you will ever use” is Temple Spa’s claim – so let’s see if this product lives up to its hype. The handy-sized bottle, which sits on its lid, appears understated for such claims but it is only when you open the lid and release a fusion of orange, grapefruit, rosemary and peppermint you begin to think they’re on to something.

I hate hand creams that don’t absorb immediately but Palm Balm’s non-greasy lotion is so smooth to the skin it feels like cashmere and rapidly soaks in leaving hands soft and silky. Apparently this is a unisex fragrance so you can point your man in its direction after cajoling him to help you with the washing up – but watch out it’s so effective you could end up fighting over it!

Verdict:
His ‘n’ her hand cream worth washing up for
Cost £18 for 100ml

CHILLIOUS

The bottle says ‘air conditioning in a bottle’, so on a recent hot and humid summer’s day when I was feeling just a tad hot-and-bothered I decided to see if Chillious can do what it says on the handy palm-sized dispenser label. Wow, I applied the gel to my ‘hot spots’ (pulse, back of neck, arms and behind the knees).

It wasn’t long before a cool, refreshing ‘minty’ type feeling started around the spots I had applied the gel. My skin cooled immediately and my body temperature followed soon after. I felt like a new person, it is more than ‘air conditioning in a bottle’, it’s definitely an ‘icepack-on-the-go!’

Verdict: Hot summers day, on the tube, or stranded in an overheated airport, don’t leave home without it
Cost £15 for 100ml

WINDOWS OF THE SOUL

The eyes have it. Not only are they very delicate, it’s important to treat them with kindness as they are the windows to our souls. How often have you looked at someone’s puffy or sagging eyes and thought: “You look rough” or “they’ve aged?” Help is at hand. Made from Echinacea, eyebright, milk thistle, edelweiss, cucumber and vitamins, this luxury formula is moisturising yet light-weight and contains natural anti-aging ingredients which protect the skin and reduce sensitivity. It also reduces puffiness, dark circles and fine lines.

Verdict: What are you waiting for? Start using it now…
