The Thalassa Spa at the Anassa
The SPA Traveller sleuths report on their most recent spa, hotel and resort visits to keep you informed
Anassa – meaning 'queen' in ancient Greek – is a luxury five-star hotel and spa resort on the Mediterranean shores of Cyprus.
The hotel almost seems to be tumbling down the secluded hillside which lies on the north-west Akamas Peninsula, a land of rugged hills and olive groves, towards the sparkling sea below.
The resort's classical, white low-rise buildings and tropical gardens are arranged around an idyllic village square complete with its own Byzantine chapel.
“Fresh is best” when it comes to Thalassa Spa’s holistic approach to wellness with the use of 100 per cent natural treatments – but don’t miss out on dip in the sky-lit, columned, indoor swimming pool.
The Thalassa Spa is a luxury Roman-style health retreat that covers the full spectrum of wellbeing: from an hour long treatment to a gentle detoxifying or holistic programme with life-long benefits. The spa offers a small menu of selected mouth-watering healthy Mediterranean flavours.
The huge spa complex also includes a sky-lit, columned indoor pool, 18 treatment rooms, saunas, steam baths, a seawater exercise pool, squash court, fitness room and hair salon for those finishing touches.
Guests get to recline in beautiful mint green bath robes and towels which make a refreshing change from white.
Who would it suit?
Considering Top Shop owner Sir Philip Green flew 219 of his "closest" friends to the Anassa for a four-day birthday bash which cost about five million pounds this is a stylish spa for both jet-setters and serious spa-goers.
The spa offers various treatments including experiences with local ‘flavour’ and they carry two product ranges, The Organic Pharmacy and Osea which are both 100 per cent natural.
The Osea collection compliments the spas Thalassotherapy programmes.
Treatments may be selected from the spa brochure or packages or programmes may be devised to suit personal needs. The philosophy of the spa is to reflect the healing powers of Cyprus and the approach is healing, holistic and true.
